Meet some of The Citizens' Assembly

Why did you want to be part of the Citizen’s Assembly? 

My grandmother was Milicent Dean and was always involved in local politics. I’ve always been interested in local history. It’s just nice to feel like you have got a say in things. 

What do you hope a Torfaen Deal will achieve? 

I want to feel like residents are being listened to. 

Why did you want to be part of the Citizen’s Assembly? 

I wanted to represent people in my age group. If things are going to change, it’s no good moaning about it. It’s better to be involved. 

What do you hope a Torfaen Deal will achieve? 

I would like to see health inequalities reduced. 

Why did you want to be part of the Citizen’s Assembly? 

It’s a good opportunity to see what’s going on. I don’t see a lot in my community for people who are single like myself. 

What do you hope a Torfaen Deal will achieve? 

I’d like to see improvements in health and social inequalities. 

Why did you want to be part of the assembly? 

I’m really interested in people’s opinions about the council and how younger people can be involved and included in decisions. 

What do you hope a Torfaen Deal will achieve? 

I hope the Torfaen Deal helps younger people understand how they can lead healthier and more independent lives.  

Why did you want to be part of the assembly? 

It is an opportunity to learn about the council’s budget and see if we can influence any decisions. 

What do you hope a Torfaen Deal will achieve? 

I’d like to see the council listening to what residents say and see if any of the actions discussed are put into place. 

Why did you want to be part of the assembly? 

I’m interested in seeing improvements in the way council services are provided like rubbish collections.

I’d like to see greater trust between one another. 

Why did you want to be part of the assembly?

Why did you want to be part of the Citizen’s Assembly? 

I live in Llanyravon, my mum, sister and family live in Llanyravon so I feel a strong sense of community.   

What do you hope a Torfaen Deal will achieve? 

I’ve not long had twins, and I would like the Torfaen Deal to shape a better tomorrow for them. 

Why did you want to be part of the Citizen’s Assembly? 

We’ve lost a sense of community. I want to try and make things better, even if it’s just for my street. 

What do you hope a Torfaen Deal will achieve? 

Get a sense of community feeling back.
