Consultation has concluded
Torfaen Council is considering whether it may be practical to introduce a School Streets Initiative at schools that are not on bus routes. This is where the street to the school is closed to non-residents around school start and finish times.
As part of this we wish to undertake a trial street closure for one day around school start and finish times on the streets outside your school that are not on a bus route to consider the potential effectiveness of the scheme.
The main purpose of the School Streets Initiative is to encourage more pupils to walk or cycle to school, to reduce vehicle use on the school run, reduce anti-social parking/congestion at the school gate and to reduce risk of collisions between people and vehicles. This is just a one day trial.
A full consultation would be necessary before the council would consider implementing the School Streets scheme on a permanent basis. The council would also need to take on new legal powers.
If you have any questions on the scheme please talk to the staff managing the consultation and road closure in the first instance. The information and personal data you provide will only be analysed by the Economy and Environment Team within Torfaen County Borough Council in compliance with Data Protection Law (UK GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018).
Please only provide personal data (such as your name, gender, postcode etc.) where clearly requested and be careful not to provide any information that could be used to identify you in text boxes.
For further information on how we process your information and your insights please click here. You can also contact the Data Protection Officer via email: DPA@torfaen.gov.uk or call 01633 647467 for further information.
