Proposed changes: licensed hackney carriages and private hire vehicles

Our licensing team is consulting on proposed changes to licensed Hackney carriages and private hire vehicles.

These proposals are around the age of vehicles used and are set out in the Council’s Policy on the Administration and Regulation of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licences.

The deadline for submitting responses is 5pm on Thursday 6th November 2025.

What will happen next

All comments received will be presented to the Council’s General Licensing Committee at a meeting due to take place in November 2025. They will be fully considered before any decision is made to change the age restrictions.
