Gwent Archives survey 2025

Gwent Archives is looking to review its opening hours, and the time it allocates for cataloguing the archive collections and developing digital services so more information about the collections is made available for customers.

To help decide the new hours, the team would appreciate your feedback on when you would find it convenient to visit. .  There are also questions around lunchtime closing and ‘Collections Weeks’.

Please read the attached questions in the survey, and share your views.

1.

Firstly, please tell us how you usually access Gwent Archives - please pick all answers that apply

2.

In order to reflect the changing number of in-person visits and support the work to make more information available, we are looking at reducing the days the archive service is open to three days a week. Currently the archive service is open four days a week. We would like to know which days of the week you feel that Gwent Archives should be open to customers. Please pick the THREE days that you think the archive service should be open.

4.

Many archive services close for 'Collections Weeks' each year. These allow staff to focus solely on cataloguing and collection work, to help make more catalogues available for use. We would like to find out which months these week should fall within, when you feel it would cause least inconvenience. Please tick any months that you feel would be an appropriate time for a week's closure.

We will be promoting the new resources as they become available, so that our customers are aware and can make use of them.  How would you like to be kept informed?
