Are you renting a home from a private landlord in Torfaen? We’d like to hear about your experiences of living in the private rented sector by taking part in a short, anonymous survey.
Torfaen Council is developing a Private Rented Sector Strategy 2026–2031 to set out a clear vision to make private rented housing more affordable, accessible and secure for residents.
While the private rented sector in Torfaen is smaller than other parts of Wales – with 11% of households privately renting compared to 24% living in social housing – it plays an important role in meeting local housing need. With demand for affordable homes continuing to rise, the Council is committed to ensuring that private renting in Torfaen is fair, supportive and offers residents a sustainable housing option.
The strategy will explore the challenges many private renters face, including affordability and security, and capture local residents’ experiences to help shape future support and policy.
It will also set out how the Council will work alongside local landlords, recognising their vital role to maintain a high‑quality private rented sector.
We know that private renters can face challenges such as affordability and security, and we want to better understand these issues from your perspective.
Your feedback will help shape this new five‑year Private Rented Sector Strategy and improve the support available to private tenants in Torfaen.
