Torfaen play & recreation survey
Torfaen Play Sufficiency Assessment – Public Survey 2024/25
Every three years, we must carry out a Play Sufficiency Assessment to make sure we're meeting the needs of local families and children. Tell us what you think about play and recreation opportunities in your area, including clubs, classes and groups.
This assessment looks at both local authority and Third Sector play and recreational activities for children and young people from 0-25 years.
As part of this process are also consulting with children, young people, the play and recreational workforce, professionals, town and community councils and elected members.
But we would also appreciate your help to shape the future of all things play and recreational related in Torfaen by completing the short survey below.
Survey closes at noon on Friday 24 January, 2025.
About the PSA (play sufficiency assessment):
The Welsh Government placed a duty on all local authorities in Wales to fully assess for sufficient play opportunities in line with the Children and Families (Wales) Measure 2010.
Play Sufficiency Assessments are completed by the local authority on a three-year cycle, the first Play Sufficiency Assessment was submitted to Welsh Government in March 2013 with subsequent assessments submitted in 2016, 2019, and 2022.
The assessment focuses on a broad scope of topics and agendas linked to play as well as play and recreational opportunities for children and young people of all ages.
For more information about the Play Sufficiency Action Plan please see the attached document on this page.
How your feedback is used and what happens next
The information collated through the consultation will be analysed and discussed through the Play Sufficiency Action Plan Monitoring Group and will contribute to shaping the 2025/2026 action plan. The results of the public consultation will be presented to Elected Members prior to the full document being returned to Welsh Government in June 2025.
A summary of the full findings will be made available on the councils website and on this Get Involved page in June 2025.
