Advice for volunteers
Arrive with clean footwear and kit (visibly free of mud/plant material).
Bring a small brush/boot pick if you have one.
- Before you leave the site (do this every time)
Check boots/wellies, laces, cuffs, clothing hems, gloves and bags for mud and plant material.
Remove anything you find and leave it at the site (do not take it to another site).
Brush off mud and plant fragments as soon as you can.
If possible, rinse boots/kit and clean hands (soap/water or sanitiser).
Dry boots/kit before visiting another site (invasive species can survive on damp kit).
- Extra notes for balsam sessions
Avoid walking through dense balsam patches if possible (reduces seed transfer).
Do not transport pulled plants off-site.
