Age Friendly Torfaen - Communication, information and employment

This short survey covers questions about how you access information, whether you are online and if so how you use online services, and your experiences in work and/or retirement.

This survey is open until 1/7/24.

Civic participation and employment

Older people are an asset to the community, and they continue contributing to their communities after retirement. An age-friendly community provides ample opportunities for older people to do so, be it through voluntary or paid employment, and keeps them engaged in the political process.

Communication and information

Staying connected with events, news and activities with timely, accessible and practical information is a key part of active ageing. Technology can spread information quickly, but also plays a role in social exclusion. Communities, including public services and businesses, must provide access to information to seniors in an accessible format, and bear in mind the wide range of needs and resources older people have.

Community and health care

Accessible and affordable community and health services are crucial in keeping seniors healthy, independent and active. This involves an appropriate supply of aged care services conveniently located close to where older people live and trained health and social workers to provide these services.

You will not be named and your personal data will not be available to anyone other than a small team of Council staff for the purpose of analysis and keeping you informed about the project, if you signal that you wish for this to happen.

A note about Sex and Gender:

Sex and gender are terms that are often used interchangeably but they are in fact two different concepts, even though for many people their sex and gender are the same. The World Health Organisation regional office for Europe describes sex as characteristics that are biologically defined, whereas gender is based on socially constructed features. They recognise that there are variations in how people experience gender based upon self-perception and expression, and how they behave. With this in mind…
