About the committees
What are the committees and what do they cover?
The Children and Families Committee has a portfolio of matters relating to Children Social services including but not limited to Foster Care, Children’s Residential Provision, Disabled Children’s Services, Children Looked After and Youth Offending Services.
The Education Committee considers all school and education-based matters such as Attendance & Exclusions, School Improvement, Additional Learning Needs, Play and Youth Service.
Adults and Communities portfolio is wide ranging with topics covered including Adults Social Care, Housing Communities, Community Safety and Customer & Digital.
Economy & Environment – Matters such as Highways, Environment & Protection, Recycling, Economy Assets & Property and Planning & Development sit under the remit of the Economy & Environment Committee.
The Cross Cutting Resources & Business Committee not only considers corporate matters such as Human Resources, Business Continuity, Procurement and Revenues and Benefits, but also considers wide ranging, cross cutting issues such as the budget, the climate change emergency and the Council’s County Plan.
