The Big Conversation – ‘The Torfaen We Want’

Closed 31 Aug 2017

Opened 1 Aug 2017

Overview

The Well-being of Future Generations Act (Wales) requires public bodies in Torfaen to do things differently and think about;

  • the long-term impact of their decisions;
  •  working better with people, communities and each other;
  • and to prevent persistent problems such as poverty, health inequalities and the impact of climate change.

The Torfaen Public Services Board (public service partners known as the PSB) are working together to improve well-being in Torfaen, and has a vision for Torfaen to be:

A healthier Torfaen

  • where every child has a best start in life;
  •  every working age adult reaches a healthy older age;
  • and every older person ages well.

A wealthier & prosperous Torfaen.

Natural resources are protected and enhanced so Torfaen is a positive place in which to live and work.

Why We Are Consulting

Over the last year, the PSB has gathered a large amount of data and asked residents and businesses in Torfaen for their views about the wellbeing of our communities.  This information has helped the PSB set the objectives listed above which will help address the current and future challenges facing communities in Torfaen.

However, in the future, public services will not be able to do everything, so the support of our communities is critical to ensure Torfaen is a place where people want to live and work today, and in the future.

We want to ask you how we can all work together to achieve this. Your views will be included in our Well-Being Plan and will help us reach the objectives.
