Climate and Nature Emergency Draft Action Plan Consultation

Closed 21 Nov 2021

Opened 22 Oct 2021

Two years ago, Torfaen Council declared a climate emergency and committed to becoming net carbon zero by 2030.  Since then, the Council has also declared a nature emergency to recognise the serious threat of declining biodiversity.

In February this year the Welsh Government pledged Wales as a whole will be net zero by 2050.

Carbon emissions in Torfaen have already reduced by 37%. (2005-2018)

Our Climate and Nature  Emergency Draft Action Plan sets out how we plan to go further to respond to these climate and nature emergencies.

Why your views matter

There are lots of things we as a council can do and there are a lot of things we can do together.

Our draft action plan identifies 8 areas where we – and you - can reduce or offset carbon emissions.

We’d like to know what you think of the suggested actions, and what other steps you think should be take

The action plan can be viewed in the survey.  There is also a link to the full draft action below.
