Torfaen Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Draft Charging Schedule and Draft Regulation 123 Infrastructure List (December 2017)

Closed 29 Jan 2018

Opened 11 Dec 2017

Overview

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a new levy that local authorities can choose to charge on new developments in their area. The funds raised will go towards infrastructure needed to support growth in the Local Development Plan such as schools and transport improvements.

The Draft CIL Charging Schedule sets out the CIL rates that the council is proposing to charge in particular areas of the borough and which types of new development will be expected to pay.

The proceeds raised through CIL will be used to fund necessary infrastructure. It is a requirement that we prepare and publish a list of all infrastructure that is eligible for funding from CIL. This is set out in the Draft 123 Infrastructure List which is included in the Draft Charging Schedule document.

Why We Are Consulting

Following consultation on the Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule in 2016, the council has considered the feedback received and has prepared the Draft CIL Charging Schedule which is the next stage in the CIL preparation process. This was approved at full council on the 17th September 2017.

The consultation document, associated background information and official comments forms are all available to download on the council’s website at www.torfaen.gov.uk/CIL

The closing date for receipt of comments is 11:59pm on Monday 29th January 2018 and can be emailed to ldp@torfaen.gov.uk
